Data governance · AI-ready data

Data governance consulting for data you can trust, and AI you can defend.

Data governance is the first AI control, not a separate programme. We set up ownership, classification, quality and lineage that teams actually use, designed together with privacy and AI governance so you build it once.

What is data governance?

Data governance is the set of roles, rules and processes that make data accurate, owned and usable. It decides who is accountable for each data set, what good quality means, how data is classified and where it may flow, so every report and every AI model runs on data you can defend.

Why data governance is on the deadline path

  1. GDPR applies across the EU

    In force
  2. EU AI Act: general-purpose AI rules

    In force
  3. EU AI Act high-risk obligations apply (Annex III)

What we do

Operating model and roles

Named data owners and stewards, clear decision rights and a governance forum that fits how you already work.

Data classification and catalogue

Know what data you have, how sensitive it is, where it comes from and where it flows, including into analytics and AI.

Data quality and lineage

Quality rules and monitoring for your critical data domains, with lineage that shows how data reaches each report and model.

Retention and lifecycle

Keep what you need, delete what you don't, and prove it to auditors and regulators.

How it works

  1. 01

    Pick the domains

Start with the few data domains that drive revenue, risk or AI.

  2. 02

    Name the owners

Agree who owns each domain and what they decide.

  3. 03

    Set the rules

Classification, quality thresholds and lineage for those domains.

  4. 04

    Scale

Roll the model out to the next domains once it works.

What you get

  • Named owners for your critical data
  • Trusted data for reporting and AI
  • Classification that privacy and security can reuse
  • Evidence for regulators and auditors

The standards we work to

  • GDPR
  • EU AI Act

Start with a fixed-scope sprint

An operating model you can switch on, starting with your most important data.

Why teams choose Consudo for Data Governance

Senior people, start to finish

The specialists who scope the work do the work. No junior hand-offs, no slideware.

One plan across four disciplines

Data, AI, privacy and security share the same foundations, so we design them once instead of four times.

Built for your teams to own

Policies, controls and evidence your people run without us, with knowledge transfer built into every engagement.

Data Governance: frequently asked questions

What is a data governance operating model?

It is the way decisions about data get made: who owns each data domain, who looks after it day to day, which forum settles disputes, and which rules apply. A good operating model is small, fits the organisation you already have, and grows domain by domain.

How does data governance support the EU AI Act?

Article 10 of the EU AI Act requires high-risk AI systems to be trained and tested on data that is relevant, representative and as free of errors as possible, with documented data governance. Ownership, lineage and quality rules are how you show that.

Where should we start with data governance?

Start with the two or three data domains that matter most, such as customer, finance or the data feeding your AI. Name owners, agree quality rules and map lineage for those first. A blueprint sprint gets you there in [n] weeks.
